Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection contains letters from her to her parents, and from the Mother Superior of Sacred Heart to Mrs. Chireno. The Mother Superior in these letters may be Rosalie Pepin (Sister Mary Euphrosine), who was in charge of the Convent of the Sacred Heart at the time of Sister Maria Theresa's death, on August 31, 1874.

Collection Historical Note

Isabel Chireno, daughter of Luis and Gregoria Chireno of Nacogdoches County, went to the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Clarksville, Texas. She was known as Hermana (Sister) Maria Teresa.
