M. Steele Wright, Jr., succeeded his father as president of the firm, and was elected chairman of the board upon the death of his father in 1970.

Steele Wright was one of three Texans to receive the "Man of the Year" award in agriculture from the Texas County Agricultural Agents Association, and served as an honorary vice-president of the State Fair of Texas.
