William Riley Davis (1886-1955) joined the faculty of Stephen F. Austin State College in 1924 as associate professor of history and education. Educated primarily at Southwest Missouri State Teachers College and Columbia University, he was a teacher, principal, and superintendent of schools before coming to SFASC. His main professional fields of interest were in teacher training, extension programs, curriculum review, and interracial education.
Scope and Contents: The unpublished manuscript of THE FOUNDATION OF TEXAS CULTURE was donated by Kenneth W. Davis, grandson of William R. Davis. The rest of the materials were transferred from the SFA Biography Files.
