Cataloging Services Mission

The Cataloging Department supports the teaching and research programs of the university and broader communities by cataloging and providing intellectual and physical access to library collections. The department maintains accurate records in the library catalog and OCLC to promote resource sharing.

Objectives:

  1. Create and maintain quality bibliographic records and authority control according to local and national standards for the catalog and OCLC
  2. Provide and maintain physical and electronic access to the library’s collections through accurate bibliographic control and material processing
  3. Maintain professional knowledge of the principles of bibliographic description and access, and of national and international metadata standards and their local applications
  4. Participate as a collaborative partner with library and university programs
