Mission of Acquisition Services & Interlibrary Loan

The Acquisition Services & Interlibrary Loan Department supports the research and informational needs of Stephen F. Austin by purchasing new materials as requested by library faculty, borrowing materials from other libraries as requested by the SFA community, and providing a binding service for those completing either their thesis or dissertation at SFA. The department helps to maintain the current print collection through binding and mending.

Objectives:

  1. Enhance departmental procedures for purchasing of library materials that result in availability to the user community most efficiently.
  2. Enhance departmental procedures for Interlibrary Loan borrowing that makes response time as short as possible.

Acquisitions Services & Interlibrary Loan purchases materials for the library, manages the Interlibrary Loan service, binds dissertations and theses, and is responsible for mending and repair of library materials.

Dissertation/Thesis Binding Service

The Acquisitions Services & ILL Department provides a thesis binding service for those completing their master's thesis or doctoral dissertation at SFA. The Graduate Office sends all copies of your completed thesis or dissertation to the department for binding and digitizing. You must first come to the library to pay the required fees for binding, digitizing services, and postage costs. All fees are on a cost recovery basis. The Acquisitions Services & ILL is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Monday through Friday, and is located at the rear of the first floor of the library. Contact Dianne Tomlin at (936) 468-1671 for details.
